Michigan Theater Sign
click trackingThis is a shot of the Michigan Theater in Ann Arbor, Michigan. The theater has undergone a restoration which took several years to complete. I believe they have at least one more phase to go. Part of the restoration was to install a 'new' sign which replicated the sign which was originally installed for the theater. In the 50's the sign was taken down and a 'modern' marquee was installed. With the 'new' sign, the theater looks like it did when it was built. The image itself was processed in Photoshop using some filters to create the end look. The filter simplifies lines and colors which creates an interesting posterized effect. If you look a the brick in the building, you will see that the shapes are some what irregular. The colors have strong steps rather than smooth gradients which gives the image a more impressionistic look to it. Copyright © 2008 James W. Howe - All rights reserved
