This is late evening shot of the Biomedical Science Research Building at the University of Michigan, Ann Arbor. This shot was taken not long after sunset and I didn't like the way the color version looked. I decided to experiment to see if I could make a more interesting shot. I had taken a few shots with different exposures from the same location, so first I tried an HDR. Didn't like how that turned out. However, in playing with the tone mapping, I desaturated the entire image and I liked what happened. I then decided to pick just one of the images and do some tone mapping, curves adjustment along with adding just a little bit of color (some red and some yellow). Some extra grain was added as well to give the image a grittier look. Topped it off with some vignetting and this is the final result. I like the way the sky came out. I also like the way the main building almost disappears because the glass is reflecting so much.
